RN – Medical/Surgical Telemetry (Orthopedic Spine) | Columbia, SC
Shift: Days, 3×12-hour shifts (07:00–19:30)
Contract: 13 weeks | Start Date: September 21, 2026
About the Unit
This telemetry-capable orthopedic spine unit provides specialized post-operative care for patients following spinal surgeries, including laminectomies, spinal fusions, and discectomies. The unit integrates comprehensive pain management, physical therapy, and mobility support throughout the recovery process.
Patient diagnoses span medical/surgical, telemetry, cardiac, low-risk ACS, TIAs, diabetes, hypertension, COPD, dehydration, chest pain, DVT, and PE.
Special procedures include: bedside lumbar puncture, post-cath care (radial and femoral), post-surgical care, post-renal biopsy care, CT angiography, and heparin drip management.
Interdisciplinary support includes IV therapy, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response, social services, and phlebotomy.
Schedule & Requirements
- Weekend requirement: every other weekend (6 shifts per contract)
- Float requirement: agency staff may be asked to float to qualified units or campuses based on census needs
Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, Dysrhythmia
Required Experience: Minimum 1 year orthopedic nursing; minimum 1 year recent experience with an electronic medical record system
Licensure: Active SC or multistate RN license required; pending licenses not accepted
