Emergency Department RN

Position Overview

The facility is seeking an experienced Emergency Department RN for a 13-week contract. This is a fast-paced role ideal for nurses with solid ER fundamentals and a commitment to trauma and acute care nursing.

Shift & Schedule

  • Hours: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (three 12-hour shifts per week)
  • Weekends: 6 per 6-week period
  • Block scheduling: Approved but not required
  • No float between units; no on-call requirement

Clinical Environment

You'll work in a comprehensive stroke and trauma facility managing a diverse patient population including adolescents, adults, pediatrics, and geriatric patients. Daily census averages 136 visits across 42 rooms. Common presentations include stroke, STEMI, chest pain, abdominal pain, trauma, shortness of breath, asthma, and lacerations.

Patient Ratios & Support

  • Ratio: 1:3
  • Interdisciplinary support: Respiratory services, radiology, pharmacy, social services, and unit secretaries

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of ER or acute care experience (hardstop requirement)
  • Current ACLS, PALS, BLS, NIHSS, and TNCC certifications
  • Compact state license at time of submission
  • Ability to manage BiPAP/CPAP, ventilated patients, central lines, and dysrhythmias

Uniform

Solid navy blue uniforms or scrubs (colored piping acceptable; print tops not permitted)
