Respiratory Therapist – 13-Week Contract

Location: Paducah, KY

Schedule: 3 days per week, 12-hour nights (5:30 PM – 6:00 AM)

Contract Duration: 13 weeks

Start Date: October 1, 2026

Position Overview

The facility is seeking a Certified Respiratory Therapist to assess, treat, and monitor patients with respiratory diseases and conditions across multiple care settings. You'll deliver both medicated and non-medicated therapies, manage invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation for acute respiratory failure, and perform diagnostic testing procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Critical & Emergent Care (35%): Respond to codes, rapid responses, and high-risk situations. Manage airways, including endotracheal and tracheostomy tubes. Assess and adjust ventilatory support parameters. Assist with specialized procedures (intubation, arterial lines, bronchoscopy).

• General Care (30%): Administer medicated and therapeutic procedures (nebulizers, chest physiotherapy, positive expiratory pressure). Provide oxygen therapy and patient education on respiratory conditions and medications.

• Diagnostic Procedures (15%): Perform pulmonary function testing, EKGs, holter monitoring, blood gas sampling, and oximetry studies.

• Communication & Equipment Management (25%): Document care in medical records, communicate patient updates to the team, participate in quality improvement initiatives, and maintain respiratory equipment.

Required Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Respiratory Care
• Kentucky respiratory license or RRT certification (NBRCP)
• BLS, ACLS, NRP certifications
