Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse
Position Overview
The facility's Labor & Delivery department is seeking experienced Registered Nurses for night shift work. You'll provide care to obstetric patients across labor, delivery, recovery, , and surgical support areas in a busy, high-acuity setting.
Schedule & Contract
- 12-hour night shifts: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 3 shifts per week (36 hours/week)
- Contract duration: 13 weeks
- Start date: September 21, 2026
- Self-scheduling available with schedule balance by leadership based on experience and skill
- Weekend/call expectations: 3–4 weekend shifts per 28-day schedule
Clinical Scope
The department manages high-risk obstetric patients, including those with diabetes, hypertension, and other complex conditions. You'll care for patients across all stages of labor and delivery, assist with external cephalic versions and second-trimester cerclages (day shift only), and support cesarean sections from admission through recovery. Staffing ratios follow AWHONN standards: 1:1 for patients ≥6 cm dilated or on magnesium/insulin drips; 1:2 for other patients.
Requirements
- Active California RN license
- Current BLS and ACLS (American Heart Association)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- AWHONN Fetal Monitoring certification or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years L&D experience
Orientation
Orientations held Mondays only. You'll complete HR paperwork and occupational health screening, then receive 3–4 unit shifts with a clinical preceptor before independent patient assignment. Scrubs are provided.
