Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse
Position Overview
The facility is seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse for a 13-week contract. This is a day shift role (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, 12-hour shifts) offering 36 hours per week with an ASAP start date.
Clinical Setting
You'll work in a busy L&D department serving a high-risk obstetric population, including patients with diabetes and complex medical histories.You'll manage patients across the full spectrum of labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum care, including external cephalic versions and second-trimester cerclages (day shift only).
Staffing follows AWHONN standards: 1:1 for patients 6 cm or greater dilated, on magnesium or insulin drips, and post-cesarean delivery; 1:2 for other laboring patients. You will follow scheduled cesarean patients through their entire perioperative course.
Requirements
- Active California RN license
- BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- AWHONN Fetal Monitoring certification or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years L&D experience
- No current or prior discipline on professional license
Scheduling & Onboarding
- 3–4 weekend shifts per 28-day schedule
- Self-scheduling available for staff; travelers assigned after
- Orientation: 3–4 unit shifts with preceptor before independent patient assignment
- Scrubs provided
