Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) — Travel RN
Rochester, NY | Nights | 13-Week Contract
This MICU assignment places you in a high-acuity adult and geriatric critical care environment managing a complex, diverse patient population. The unit operates nights, 4x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30), with every other weekend required.
Patient Population & Clinical Scope
The unit cares for critically ill adults and geriatric patients with diagnoses including sepsis, ARDS, respiratory failure, multi-organ failure, DKA, CIWA, overdose, GI bleed, acute kidney injury, and post-cardiac arrest with targeted temperature management. Nurses manage advanced hemodynamic support including CRRT, IABP, Impella, and ECMO.
Required Skills
- Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Arterial line and central line management
- Titration of vasoactive and cardiac drips; continuous IV sedation and paralytics
- Ventilator management and ABG interpretation
- CVVHD/CRRT, procedural sedation, blood product administration
- Massive transfusion protocol, stroke management, hypothermia protocol
Requirements
- Active New York RN license in hand at time of submission
- Minimum 1–2 years MICU experience
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
- Electronic health record proficiency required
- Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility
Schedule & Additional Details
- Shift: 4x12 nights, every other weekend
- Float: required
- Orientation: 24 hours
- Pre-approved time off: up to one occurrence per contract
