Medical-Surgical Telemetry Nurse – Night Shift

Position Overview

The facility is seeking an experienced Medical-Surgical Telemetry nurse for night shifts. This is a neuroscience-focused unit that provides care to stroke patients and other neurological diagnoses, including epilepsy, subdural hematomas, subarachnoid hemorrhage, and traumatic brain injury.Shift & Schedule

• Shift: Night 4x12-hour (18:45–07:15)
• Contract Duration: 13–20 weeks
• Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend required
• Patient Ratio: 1:6
• Orientation: 36 hours

Experience & Certification Requirements

• Minimum 2 years nursing experience with 1 year direct Med/Surg experience
• At least 2 successful prior travel contracts (first-time travelers not accepted)
• Required: BLS, NIH, NIHSS
• Preferred: ACLS
• Required Skills: IV starts, telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, neuro med/surg nursing, seizure management, central line care, management of vasoactive drips (non-titration), PICC line management, high-flow oxygen delivery

Clinical Scope

You'll manage adult and geriatric patients with acute neurological conditions.Floating to other medical-surgical and telemetry areas is required; additional floating may occur based on unit needs.

Key Requirements

• EKG testing required prior to start date
• Navy scrubs
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions allowed)
• Pre-approved time off limited to 7 days (no holidays); must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• No RTO during first week or after contract signing
