Cardiovascular Stepdown / Telemetry RN — Travel Contract
Arlington, VA | 13-Week Contract | ASAP Start
This cardiovascular stepdown unit cares for post-cardiac-surgery patients transitioning out of the ICU. The patient population requires strong telemetry monitoring skills, chest tube management, and dysrhythmia recognition and intervention.
Shift & Schedule
- Rotating 4x12-hour shifts (Days: 07:00–19:00 / Nights: 19:00–07:00)
- Every other weekend required
- Holidays may be required
Required Qualifications
- Active Virginia or Compact RN license — must be in hand at time of submission
- BLS and ACLS certifications
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience in cardiac telemetry or stepdown
- Demonstrated experience with chest tube management and dysrhythmia interpretation
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior charge nurse experience
- Trauma Level II background
Key Clinical Skills
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Cardiac and vasoactive drip management (including titration)
- Chest tube, PICC line, and central line care
- BiPAP/CPAP and high-flow nasal cannula management
- Pre/post cardiac surgery and cardiac catheterization care
- Tracheostomy care, wound VAC, and procedural sedation monitoring
Additional Details
- Patient ratio: 1:4 (days, nights, and weekends)
- Interdisciplinary support includes respiratory therapy, IV teams, rapid response, and pharmacy
- Smoke/nicotine-free facility
- Flu vaccine required seasonally; COVID-19 vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
- Charting system orientation class required; prior experience influences start date and class format
