Cardiovascular Stepdown / Telemetry RN — Travel Contract

Arlington, VA | 13-Week Contract | ASAP Start

This cardiovascular stepdown unit cares for post-cardiac-surgery patients transitioning out of the ICU. The patient population requires strong telemetry monitoring skills, chest tube management, and dysrhythmia recognition and intervention.

Shift & Schedule

  • Rotating 4x12-hour shifts (Days: 07:00–19:00 / Nights: 19:00–07:00)
  • Every other weekend required
  • Holidays may be required

Required Qualifications

  • Active Virginia or Compact RN license — must be in hand at time of submission
  • BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience in cardiac telemetry or stepdown
  • Demonstrated experience with chest tube management and dysrhythmia interpretation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior charge nurse experience
  • Trauma Level II background

Key Clinical Skills

  • Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Cardiac and vasoactive drip management (including titration)
  • Chest tube, PICC line, and central line care
  • BiPAP/CPAP and high-flow nasal cannula management
  • Pre/post cardiac surgery and cardiac catheterization care
  • Tracheostomy care, wound VAC, and procedural sedation monitoring

Additional Details

  • Patient ratio: 1:4 (days, nights, and weekends)
  • Interdisciplinary support includes respiratory therapy, IV teams, rapid response, and pharmacy
  • Smoke/nicotine-free facility
  • Flu vaccine required seasonally; COVID-19 vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
  • Charting system orientation class required; prior experience influences start date and class format
