Surgical Technologist – Cardiothoracic Surgery
Position Overview
The facility is seeking an experienced Certified Surgical Technologist to provide scrub support in the cardiothoracic operating room. You will work alongside surgeons, perfusion staff, circulating nurses, and anesthesia to deliver safe, efficient care during complex cardiac and thoracic procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Scrub and serve as primary scrub person for cardiothoracic cases including CABG, valve repairs/replacements, and aortic repairs
- Prepare and maintain sterile fields, specialized cardiac instruments, and equipment before case start
- Pass instruments and supplies to surgeons, anticipating procedural needs during complex cases
- Perform accurate instrument, sponge, and needle counts throughout the procedure
- Coordinate with the perfusion team and surgical staff regarding cardiopulmonary bypass setup
- Handle and prepare specimens for pathology per facility protocol
- Collaborate with surgical, anesthesia, and nursing teams to ensure smooth case flow
- Assist with room turnover and terminal cleaning between cases
- Maintain and organize specialized cardiac surgical instruments and equipment
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program
- CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) certification required
- BLS certification required
- 1+ years of cardiothoracic surgical tech experience
- Strong knowledge of cardiac/thoracic surgical procedures, instrumentation, and cardiopulmonary bypass
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Schedule & Contract
- Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM–3:00 PM
- 17-week contract
- Call every other day and every other weekend
- Start date: August 27, 2026
