Registered Nurse – Medical-Surgical/Telemetry

Location: Paducah, KY

Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

Contract Duration: 13 weeks

Schedule: 36 hours/week; includes holidays and weekends

About the Role

The facility is seeking an experienced RN to join the Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit. You will provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients with a range of medical, surgical, and cardiac conditions, with emphasis on continuous cardiac monitoring and telemetry interpretation.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans using the nursing process
• Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms and vital signs; recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient condition
• Administer medications and treatments, including cardiac drips, per physician orders
• Manage pre- and post-operative care, including wound care and pain management
• Coordinate care for patients with chronic and acute conditions (diabetes, cardiac, respiratory diagnoses)
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions
• Collaborate with physicians, cardiologists, case managers, and interdisciplinary team on care coordination and discharge planning
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in the medical record
• Manage a typical patient load of 4–6 patients per shift
• Ensure infection control and fall prevention protocols are consistently followed

Required Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted RN license (compact license acceptable)
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN preferred)
• BLS and ACLS certification
• Minimum 1+ years of Medical-Surgical/Telemetry nursing experience
• Demonstrated telemetry/EKG interpretation competency

Preferred

• BSN degree
• Previous telemetry or cardiac nursing experience
