Travel RN – Progressive Care Unit
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Location: Wichita, KS
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Unit: Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
About the Role
You'll join the facility's PCU as a night shift RN, providing care for 4 patients per assignment. This unit manages stable to intermediate-acuity patients who need closer monitoring than general medical-surgical floors but are not ICU-level. You'll work with a team of RNs and Patient Care Technicians to deliver compassionate, evidence-based care.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and monitor patient conditions; respond to acute changes
- Manage chest tubes, IV pumps, central lines, and various drains
- Administer medications, including infusion drips
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support patient recovery
- Float to other units as staffing needs require
- Work every other weekend
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of current hospital PCU experience
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- NIH stroke certification (required)
- Knowledge of medication drips and central line management preferred
- Strong patient advocacy and critical thinking skills
- Positive team player mentality
