Surgical Technologist – Operating Room
Position Overview
The facility's operating room is seeking an experienced Surgical Technologist for a 15-week contract. You'll work in a high-volume, 24/7 surgical services department performing general, gynecologic, urologic, oral, otolaryngologic, bariatric, orthopedic, neurologic, vascular, thoracic, cardiac, plastic, podiatric, robotic-assisted, pediatric, trauma, and spine procedures.
Schedule
- 12-hour shifts: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Three 12-hour shifts per week (36 guaranteed hours)
- Every third weekend as needed
- Alternating holidays
- One call shift per rotation period
- Possible float to other OR locations as needed
Requirements
- CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) – required; NBSTSA certification accepted
- BLS certification required
- 3+ years of inpatient surgical experience
- Level 1 trauma experience mandatory
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program
- Competency in at least 5 of the surgical specialties listed above
Key Responsibilities
- Set up sterile fields and prepare instruments and supplies
- Pass instruments and anticipate surgeon needs during procedures
- Maintain sterile technique and monitor the sterile field
- Perform accurate counts (instruments, sponges, needles)
- Handle and prepare specimens per protocol
- Collaborate with circulating RN, surgeons, and anesthesia
- Assist with room turnover and terminal cleaning
- Maintain and organize surgical equipment and supplies

Strong knowledge of surgical instrumentation and procedural anatomy. Excellent communication, flexibility, and a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment.
