Surgical Technologist – Operating Room

Position Overview

The facility's operating room is seeking an experienced Surgical Technologist for a 15-week contract. You'll work in a high-volume, 24/7 surgical services department performing general, gynecologic, urologic, oral, otolaryngologic, bariatric, orthopedic, neurologic, vascular, thoracic, cardiac, plastic, podiatric, robotic-assisted, pediatric, trauma, and spine procedures.

Schedule

  • 12-hour shifts: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
  • Three 12-hour shifts per week (36 guaranteed hours)
  • Every third weekend as needed
  • Alternating holidays
  • One call shift per rotation period
  • Possible float to other OR locations as needed

Requirements

  • CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) – required; NBSTSA certification accepted
  • BLS certification required
  • 3+ years of inpatient surgical experience
  • Level 1 trauma experience mandatory
  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program
  • Competency in at least 5 of the surgical specialties listed above

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up sterile fields and prepare instruments and supplies
  • Pass instruments and anticipate surgeon needs during procedures
  • Maintain sterile technique and monitor the sterile field
  • Perform accurate counts (instruments, sponges, needles)
  • Handle and prepare specimens per protocol
  • Collaborate with circulating RN, surgeons, and anesthesia
  • Assist with room turnover and terminal cleaning
  • Maintain and organize surgical equipment and supplies

What We're Looking For

Strong knowledge of surgical instrumentation and procedural anatomy. Excellent communication, flexibility, and a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment.
