Cardiothoracic Operating Room Surgical Technologist

Position Overview

The facility seeks an experienced surgical technologist for the cardiothoracic operating room. You'll work in a fast-paced environment performing cardiac, thoracic, and endovascular surgical procedures alongside an interdisciplinary surgical team.

Shift & Schedule

  • 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
  • Call: Typically one weekday and one weekend every 3–4 weeks
  • Float: Within facility scope of practice and to main OR as needed
  • Weekend rotation required
  • 17-week contract

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years cardiothoracic surgical experience (first-time travelers considered)
  • Current ACLS and BLS certifications
  • Georgia or Compact RN/ST license
  • MUST have cardiac, thoracic, AND endovascular experience
  • Proficiency with facility charting system required

Clinical Scope

You'll scrub and assist with a broad range of procedures including:

  • Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG)
  • Valve replacements (mitral, aortic)
  • Thoracotomy and VATS procedures
  • Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR)
  • Vascular repairs (AAA, carotid endarterectomy, femoral-popliteal bypass)
  • Ventricular assist device (LVAD/RVAD) support
  • IABP management

Important Notes

  • All request time off (RTO) must be finalized at time of submission
  • Holiday coverage expected; limited RTO available during major holidays
  • Full compliance documentation required prior to start
  • Clinical screening conducted to ensure fit
