Cardiothoracic Operating Room Surgical Technologist
Position Overview
The facility seeks an experienced surgical technologist for the cardiothoracic operating room. You'll work in a fast-paced environment performing cardiac, thoracic, and endovascular surgical procedures alongside an interdisciplinary surgical team.
Shift & Schedule
- 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- Call: Typically one weekday and one weekend every 3–4 weeks
- Float: Within facility scope of practice and to main OR as needed
- Weekend rotation required
- 17-week contract
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years cardiothoracic surgical experience (first-time travelers considered)
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications
- Georgia or Compact RN/ST license
- MUST have cardiac, thoracic, AND endovascular experience
- Proficiency with facility charting system required
Clinical Scope
You'll scrub and assist with a broad range of procedures including:
- Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG)
- Valve replacements (mitral, aortic)
- Thoracotomy and VATS procedures
- Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR)
- Vascular repairs (AAA, carotid endarterectomy, femoral-popliteal bypass)
- Ventricular assist device (LVAD/RVAD) support
- IABP management
Important Notes
- All request time off (RTO) must be finalized at time of submission
- Holiday coverage expected; limited RTO available during major holidays
- Full compliance documentation required prior to start
- Clinical screening conducted to ensure fit
