Medical Surgical Telemetry Float – Night Shift

Position Overview

The facility seeks an experienced Medical Surgical Telemetry nurse for a 13-week night shift assignment. You'll work 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) on a medical surgical telemetry unit caring for adult and geriatric patients.

Clinical Scope

This is a float position within your scope of practice to support unit needs. You'll manage patients with a variety of diagnoses including cardiac conditions, post-operative states, neurological events, and trauma. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Cardiac telemetry monitoring (unit-based and remote)
  • Central line, PICC line, and peripheral line management
  • Cardiac drip titration and vasoactive drip management
  • CPAP/BiPAP and high-flow oxygen delivery
  • Tracheostomy and traction care
  • Post-cardiac surgery, post-cardiac catheterization, and post-neurosurgery nursing
  • Blood product administration and heparin protocols
  • Rapid response and code team collaboration

Requirements

  • Current RN license (must be in hand at hire)
  • BLS required; ACLS preferred
  • Minimum 1 year nursing experience (first-timers accepted with appropriate background)
  • Proficiency with cardiac telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation
  • Ability to work every other weekend
  • No on-call requirement
  • Must be willing to relocate (no local candidates within 50 miles accepted)

Scheduling

  • 3x12-hour nights per week (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
  • Patient ratios: 1:4–1:8 (team nursing model)
  • Every other weekend

Compliance Note

COVID-19 and flu vaccines required (medical exemptions only). Approximately 4 hours of pre-start modules. Former permanent employees must have a one-year separation before eligibility.
