Medical-Surgical Telemetry Float Nurse
Position Overview
The facility is seeking a Medical-Surgical Telemetry Float Nurse for a 13-week contract. You'll work day shift, 3x12-hour (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM), and float within the medical-surgical telemetry unit to support patient care across multiple areas.
Shift & Schedule
- Day shift: 3x12-hour per week
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call
- No block scheduling
Patient Population & Scope
You'll care for adult and geriatric patients with medical-surgical diagnoses, including:
- Cardiac telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
- Cardiac and vasoactive drip management (monitoring; no titration)
- Post-MI, pre/post cardiac catheterization and surgery care
- Neurological patients: aneurysm repair, craniotomy, CVA, seizure disorders, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury
- Orthopedic trauma
- Central lines, PICC lines, peripheral lines
- Tracheostomy care
- BiPAP/CPAP and high-flow oxygen delivery
- Pacemaker management (temporary and permanent)
Staffing & Ratios
- Team nursing model
- Patient ratios: 1:4–1:8
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year nursing experience (first-timers welcomed)
- Current RN license in hand required
- BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
- Experience with cardiac telemetry and dysrhythmia management
- Ability to float and adapt to facility needs
- Not accepted if living within 50 miles of the facility
