Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Float Pool RN
Position Overview
The facility is seeking experienced RNs for a 12-hour day shift float pool role covering medical-surgical and telemetry units. You'll work within a 50-mile radius, reporting to the clinical coordinator each shift for unit assignment.
Unit Details
You'll float primarily between two parent units, with occasional assignments to critical care. The units manage a diverse patient population including cardiac catheterization, chest pain, CHF, ia, COPD, chronic renal disease, orthopedic cases, and oncology patients. Telemetry monitoring is standard; you must be able to read and interpret rhythms independently. Respiratory equipment (CPAP/BiPap) is RT-managed.
Staffing & Support
- Nurse-to-patient ratios: primarily 1:5–6 (occasionally 7 near shift end depending on acuity)
- Charge nurse available 24/7; day charge does not take patients
- CNAs present on all units
- Monitor technicians on most units; RNs read and interpret strips
- No drip titration required
Requirements & Expectations
- Current BLS and ACLS certification (required)
- Must pass a cardiac rhythm exam
- Every-other-weekend schedule (Saturday/Sunday for both day and night shifts)
- Included in holiday rotation with permanent staff
- Royal blue scrubs
- 1–2 orientation shifts with preceptor
- Valid driver's license required; submit copy with application
- 36 guaranteed hours per week
