Maternity Care Nurse – Labor & Delivery
Position Overview
Join the maternity care team in a busy Labor & Delivery unit. This 13-week travel assignment offers the opportunity to work nights (7:00 PM–7:00 AM) in a dynamic perinatal setting serving laboring patients, post-partum families, and newborns.
Unit Details
You'll work in a comprehensive maternity center with Labor & Delivery rooms, post-partum/gynecology beds, surgical suites for cesarean delivery, and a full-service nursery. The night shift team includes clinical coordinators, charge nurses, birth response nurses, couplet care nurses, L&D nurses, and surgical technicians.
Responsibilities & Scope
- Provide direct patient care during active labor, including monitoring on Corometrics equipment
- Assist with inductions, trials of labor after cesarean (TOLAC), and assessments
- Support cesarean deliveries as circulator or scrub, if experienced
- Collaborate with midwives and OB physicians
- Float within the unit as needed
Requirements
- Current RN license (Virginia)
- OB nursing experience required
- BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN certifications
- Cesarean section circulator or first-assist experience preferred
Schedule & Logistics
- Guaranteed 36 hours/week
- Friday–Saturday nights and Sunday nights (4 weekends per 4-week cycle)
- No on-call requirement; voluntary extra shifts available
- Scrubs provided
