Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Schedule: Every other weekend (overflow unit)
Contract Duration: 14 weeks

About the Role
The facility's Progressive Care Unit serves patients who require closer monitoring than a traditional medical-surgical floor but are not ICU-level acute. You'll manage a moderate patient load (typically 3–4 patients) including those transitioning from ICU care, at-risk patients, and those on telemetry monitoring.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and ongoing monitoring; make sound independent clinical decisions
- Monitor cardiac rhythms and vital signs continuously; respond to changes in patient condition
- Administer medications, including select IV infusions, per physician orders
- Assess and manage patients at risk of clinical deterioration
- Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary care team on plan of care
- Respond to rapid response and code interventions as needed
- Educate patients and families on their condition, treatment, and recovery
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately
- Support infection control and fall prevention protocols
- Mentor and precept nursing staff as appropriate
Requirements
- Active RN license (or compact license as applicable)
- Minimum 2 years acute care inpatient nursing experience
- 1+ years Progressive Care Unit or step-down experience
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Nursing Diploma; BSN preferred
- Telemetry monitoring and moderate-acuity patient management experience
Preferred Qualifications
- PCCN (Progressive Care Certified Nurse) certification
- BSN degree
