Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit

Location: Louisville, KY

Shift: Days, 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM | Every other weekend

Contract Duration: 14 weeks

Start Date: September 27, 2026

About the Role

The facility is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Progressive Care Unit (PCU). You'll provide nursing care to moderate-acuity patients who require closer monitoring than medical-surgical units but do not require ICU-level care. This includes patients transitioning from ICU and those at risk of clinical deterioration.

Key Responsibilities

• Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms and vital signs; identify and respond promptly to changes in patient condition
• Administer medications, including select IV drips, per physician orders
• Assess and manage moderate patient loads (typically 3–4 patients per shift)
• Collaborate with physicians, intensivists, and interdisciplinary teams on care planning
• Respond to rapid response and code interventions as needed
• Educate patients and families on condition, treatment, and recovery
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately
• Maintain infection control and fall prevention protocols

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license (state or compact)
• Minimum 1+ years of PCU or step-down unit experience
• 2+ years of acute inpatient RN experience
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• ADN or BSN (ADN accepted; BSN preferred)
• Experience with telemetry monitoring and moderate-acuity patient management

Preferred Qualifications

• PCCN (Progressive Care Certified Nurse)

Fluency: English (read, write, speak)
