Progressive Care Unit (PCU) – Registered Nurse

Position Overview

The facility is seeking an experienced RN for its Progressive Care Unit. You'll provide nursing care to moderate-acuity patients who require closer monitoring than a medical-surgical unit but do not require ICU-level care. This includes patients transitioning from ICU, those on telemetry monitoring, and patients at risk of clinical deterioration.

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms and vital signs; identify and respond promptly to changes in patient condition
  • Assess patients, develop and implement individualized care plans, and evaluate responses to interventions
  • Administer medications, including select IV drips, per physician orders
  • Collaborate with physicians, intensivists, and interdisciplinary teams on patient care plans
  • Respond to rapid response and code interventions as needed
  • Educate patients and families on condition, treatment, and recovery
  • Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately
  • Manage a moderate patient load (typically 3–4 patients) per unit acuity guidelines
  • Maintain infection control and fall prevention protocols
  • Support team-based care and quality improvement initiatives

Requirements

  • Active RN license (state or compact)
  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree in nursing
  • BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certification
  • Minimum 2 years acute care RN experience
  • 1+ year PCU or step-down unit experience
  • Experience with telemetry monitoring and moderate-acuity patient management
  • Proficiency with electronic health records

Schedule

  • 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
  • Every other weekend required
  • 13-week contract
  • Start date: September 27, 2026
