ICU Travel RN – Birmingham, AL

Nights | 13-Week Contract | Start Date: September 21, 2026

This ICU position is a night shift role (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) caring for critically ill patients requiring intensive monitoring, advanced life support, and rapid clinical decision-making. Candidates must have prior travel nursing experience plus a minimum of 2 years of recent ICU/critical care experience.

Clinical Scope

  • Manage high-acuity patients on ventilators, arterial lines, central lines, and hemodynamic monitoring systems
  • Titrate vasoactive and sedation drips per physician orders
  • Respond to rapid deterioration events and participate in code interventions
  • Collaborate with intensivists and an interdisciplinary care team on evolving patient plans of care
  • Provide patient and family education on condition, treatment, and care needs

Requirements

  • Active RN license in Alabama or a valid compact license
  • BSN preferred; ADN accepted
  • BLS and ACLS required
  • CCRN preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of recent ICU/critical care experience
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Proficiency with ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, and titratable drips

This is a fast-paced, high-acuity unit suited for experienced critical care nurses who are comfortable working independently and adapting quickly in a travel environment.
