Float ICU / Float Pool RN — Birmingham, AL
Night Shift | 13-Week Contract | Start: September 21, 2026
This float position serves both a critical care ICU and a medical-surgical/step-down float pool, requiring strong clinical versatility and the ability to adapt quickly across multiple units and patient populations. Prior travel nursing experience is required, along with a minimum of two years of recent experience in critical care.

- 13-week contract
Clinical Scope
Nurses in this role provide direct care to critically ill patients requiring intensive monitoring and intervention, including management of vasoactive and sedation drips, mechanical ventilation, arterial lines, central lines, and hemodynamic monitoring. Responsibilities also include rapid response and code participation, interdisciplinary care collaboration, and patient and family education. Float assignments may include medical-surgical and step-down units in addition to the ICU.
Requirements
- Active RN license in Alabama (or applicable compact license)
- BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
- BLS and ACLS required
- CCRN preferred
- Minimum 2 years of recent ICU/critical care experience
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Proficiency with critical care equipment, ventilator management, and titratable drips
Candidates must be comfortable floating across care settings and adjusting to varying acuity levels with minimal orientation time.
