Emergency Department Nurse – Travel Assignment

Location: Birmingham, AL

Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

Duration: 13 weeks

Start Date: September 21, 2026

About the Role

The facility's Emergency Department is seeking experienced RN nurses to join a high-acuity, fast-paced team. You'll manage a diverse patient population across emergent and urgent conditions, from minor injuries to trauma activations and critical codes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform rapid and acuity assessments to prioritize patient care
  • Provide comprehensive nursing interventions for trauma, medical emergencies, and urgent conditions
  • Administer medications and treatments per protocol; respond to code situations
  • Manage patient flow through admission, transfer, or discharge
  • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams on care plans
  • Monitor patients awaiting bed placement and manage throughput in a high-volume setting
  • Document assessments and interventions accurately in the EMR
  • Educate patients and families on discharge instructions and follow-up care
  • Maintain infection control and safety protocols; apply de-escalation techniques as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Active RN license (state or compact)
  • 2+ years recent emergency nursing experience (travel experience required)
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
  • 1+ years ED experience
  • Strong and high-acuity patient care skills

Preferred Certifications

  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
  • CEN (Certified Emergency Nurse)
  • BSN
