Emergency Department RN — Kansas City, MO
Nights | 4×12 | 13-Week Contract
This Emergency Department position offers a dynamic, fast-paced environment with 48-hour guaranteed weekly hours. The unit operates across three distinct areas: a Rapid Treatment zone, a Main ED, and a psychiatrically safe care area, giving you broad clinical exposure within a single assignment.
Clinical Scope
Nurses in this ED manage a wide range of acuity levels and perform procedures including chest tube management, port placement, arterial line monitoring, and BiPAP/ventilator management. Strong de-escalation skills are essential given the patient population served across all three care areas.
Shift Details
- Schedule: 4×12-hour night shifts (12:00–00:00)
- Weekend commitment: 4 weekend shifts and 2 Fridays minimum per 4-week schedule
- Holiday requirement: 2 major and 2 minor holidays per contract
- Float: May float to a nearby ED
Requirements
- Active RN license in Missouri (or compact)
- Current BLS; ACLS required
- Demonstrated skills in prioritization, time management, and clinical de-escalation
- CPI certification preferred
- ED experience required; candidates must be comfortable with high-acuity and behavioral health presentations
