Position Overview

Join a busy labor and delivery unit in Richmond, Virginia. This 12-week contract offers a day shift (7:00 AM–7:00 PM) in a high-performing obstetric department.

Unit Details

The facility's L&D unit manages a full scope of obstetric care with 16 labor-delivery-recovery beds, 3 operating rooms, 3 spaces, and 3 recovery beds. You'll care for laboring patients, assist with vaginal and cesarean deliveries, provide and antepartum support, and deliver first-hour newborn care and breastfeeding assistance.

Patient ratios follow AWHONN guidelines—typically 1:1, 2:1, or 3:1 depending on acuity. The unit maintains 24/7 in-house coverage by hospitalist, midwife, anesthesia, and neonatologist.

Required Qualifications

• Current RN license (Virginia)
• Current BLS and NRP certifications
• Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring certification (current within 2 years)
• Recent L&D experience (within 2 years)
• Preferred: experience at high-volume facilities (3,000+ births annually)
