Operating Room RN — Travel Contract | Des Moines, IA
Shift & Schedule
Days, Monday–Friday, 3×12s (6:30 AM–7:00 PM), with up to every 4th weekend. Weekend on-call coverage runs from end of shift Friday through 6:30 AM Monday. Up to one overnight on-call per week and three on-call weekends per 13-week contract.

The Unit
This high-volume OR runs 12–14 suites daily across a broad range of service lines, averaging 35–50 cases per day with an expected turnover time under 20 minutes. Service lines include cardiac/peripheral vascular, neurosurgery, orthopedic trauma, robotics, gynecology, urology, general surgery, pediatrics, transplant, and smaller volumes of ENT and plastics. Patient ratio is 1:1. Scrubs are provided.
Candidates must be comfortable floating across multiple campuses.
Requirements
- Minimum 24 months of current OR experience (hospital/medical center setting prioritized)
- Circulating experience required; scrub experience highly preferred
- Required case experience: General, da Vinci Robotics, Pediatrics, and Trauma
- Highly preferred case experience: Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Gynecology, Urology, Transplants, Plastics, ENT, and Vascular
- Trauma Level II experience required; Level I highly preferred
- Must have completed at least one travel assignment within the past 15 months (no first-time travelers)
- Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate license required at submission
- BLS (AHA) required
Candidate must reside at least 50 miles from the facility based on driver's license address.
