Labor & Delivery RN — Travel Contract | Des Moines, IA
Shift: Nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | 36 hours/week
Contract Duration: 13 weeks | Start Date: September 28 (firm)
Unit Overview
This high-acuity Labor & Delivery unit manages a diverse obstetric population including high-risk OB, antepartum, C-sections, and vaginal deliveries. Common drip management includes magnesium, insulin, and pitocin. The role requires floating across multiple campuses within the health system.
Schedule Details
- Every 3rd weekend required
- Holiday rotation required (1–2 of 3 summer holidays: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day)
- No on-call obligation
- Scrubs provided by the facility
Required Qualifications
- Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate license at time of submission
- Minimum one completed travel assignment within the past 12 months (no first-time travelers)
- Current/recent high-risk OB experience in a Level II or higher OB setting
- Experience with antepartum, C-section, and vaginal delivery
- Intermediate or Advanced EFM/AWHONN certification
- BLS and ACLS (AHA only)
- NRP certification
Preferred Qualifications
- Postpartum/mother-baby experience
- Familiarity with electronic fetal monitoring documentation
Required Documentation
- Discipline-specific skills checklist (Labor & Delivery)
- Professional reference from a charge nurse, supervisor, or nurse manager within the past 24 months
- Valid driver's license
- Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
