Progressive Care Unit (PCU) — Travel RN | Nights | Eureka, CA
This 13-week travel assignment places you in a Progressive Care Unit caring for adult and geriatric patients with cardiac and complex medical needs. The night shift runs 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, three 12-hour shifts per week.
Unit & Clinical Scope
The PCU manages moderate-to-high acuity patients, including those recovering from cardiac catheterization, cardiac angiogram, and cardiac surgery. Clinicians manage telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation, cardiac drips, heparin protocols, BiPAP/CPAP, central lines, PICC lines, feeding tubes, and procedural sedation monitoring. Robust interdisciplinary support includes respiratory therapy, rapid response teams, pharmacy, physical therapy, social services, and more.
Schedule & Float
- Nights: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | 3x12
- Orientation: 24 hours
- Candidates must commit to working 3 of 5 listed holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- Floating to nearby sister facilities may be required; refusal to float may result in assignment termination or forfeiture of guaranteed hours
- All RTO must be requested at time of submittal
Requirements
- Active RN license (compact license must be in hand at submission)
- Minimum 1 year of PCU, stepdown, or ICU experience; must have worked in the specialty within the last 6 months
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
- 2 professional references covering the past 3 years required prior to start
