Med/Surg Telemetry – Orthopedic & Neuro Spine | Night Shift | Winston-Salem, NC

This is a fast-paced med/surg telemetry unit specializing in orthopedic, neuro spine, and post-surgical adult patients. Nurses must be comfortable managing complex post-operative pain, peripheral nerve block catheters, surgical drains, and total joint replacement patients. The unit also cares for spinal cord injury and pre/post neurosurgery cases.

Contract Details

• Shift: Nights, 3×12-hour shifts (18:45–07:15)
• Contract Length: 13 weeks (through late February)
• 36 or 48 hours per week available

Scheduling & Float

• Block scheduling available (F/S/S or S/S/M)
• Every other weekend required; call-offs on weekends must be made up on a weekend
• Float to other med/surg units within the facility as census requires
• No RTO during the first week; no additional RTO requests after signing; holidays are not approved for RTO

Patient Population & Acuity

• Adults: orthopedic, neuro spine, med/surg, post-surgical

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of orthopedic nursing experience
• BLS and NIHSS certifications required
• IV start and telemetry skills required
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• First-time travelers accepted with strong electronic health record experience

Preferred Qualifications

• ACLS certification
• Charge nurse experience
• Neuro/spine and ortho trauma background

Clinical Skills Expected

• PCA management, heparin protocols, blood product administration, central line care, telemetry interpretation and dysrhythmia management, peripheral nerve block catheter monitoring, high-acuity post-surgical care

Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered). NC or compact license accepted.
