General Surgical Unit Nurse
Position Overview
The facility is seeking a General Surgical Unit Nurse for a 15-week contract in Tuscaloosa, AL. This is a full-time day shift role (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM) focused on delivering exceptional postoperative nursing care.
Unit Details
You'll work on a general surgical unit that specializes in postoperative care for surgical patients. The nursing team collaborates closely with surgeons, hospitalists, and family practice physicians to support optimal patient recovery. Your work will emphasize pain management, patient mobility, bedside procedures, and creating a comfortable healing environment tailored to each patient's unique needs.
Shift & Schedule
- Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- 36 or 48 hours per week (flexible)
- Every other weekend required
- Holiday coverage as needed
- Willingness to float to other units and facilities required
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in nursing
- Current RN license (Alabama or compact state; no temporary licenses)
- AHA BLS and Red Cross certification required
- Minimum 2 years nursing experience (or 18 months with consideration); must have 1 year recent experience in medical-surgical or specialty nursing
- Active NURSYS registration
