Nights | 13-Week Contract
This med-surg unit manages a diverse, complex patient population including stroke and seizure patients, post-operative cases, and patients requiring dialysis or pain management support. The unit provides a solid mix of general medical and surgical nursing in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment.
Shift & Schedule
- 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- 36 guaranteed hours per week
- 4 weekend shifts per 4-week scheduling block
- Float requirement: may float over core staff
Clinical Scope
Nurses on this unit are expected to independently manage:
- Wounds, tracheostomies, ostomies, drains, and chest tubes
- Stroke and seizure patients
- Patients requiring peritoneal dialysis or PCA pumps
- Heparin drip (only continuous infusion on unit)
- Post-operative patients following amputations, ostomy surgery, oral surgery, drain placements, chest tube procedures, and wound vac application
Unit Expectations
- Bedside shift report and safety checks every 1–2 hours
- 100% medication scanning, including controlled substances
- HAI prevention protocols, CVC and Foley monitoring, fall prevention
- Daily unit secretary support; PRN tech coverage
Required Certifications
- BLS
- NIHSS
Dress Code
Navy, blue, white, black, gray, or ceil blue scrubs
Start Date: September 14, 2026
Travel nurses are integrated as core staff and held to the same standards and recognition as permanent team members. Leadership is experienced and supportive, with a collaborative team environment.
