NICU Registered Nurse – Night Shift
Position Overview
The facility is seeking an experienced NICU Registered Nurse for night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM). This is a 13-week contract role on a Level IV NICU managing high-acuity neonates with complex surgical, gastrointestinal, respiratory, and neurological conditions. The unit also supports a regional high-acuity Fetal Care Center.
Clinical Scope
You'll care for critically ill and premature infants, many of whom are intubated or on advanced respiratory support. Common patient conditions include Respiratory Distress Syndrome, Intraventricular Hemorrhage, Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia, Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia, Necrotizing Enterocolitis, and Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy, among others. The unit utilizes advanced equipment including servo ventilators, high-flow nasal cannula, nitric oxide, bubble CPAP, EVD shunts, G-tubes, and oscillators. Arterial lines, peritoneal dialysis, and feeding pumps are routine.
Requirements
- Current RN license (Ohio or compact state; Ohio license required)
- BLS and NRP certifications
- Minimum 2 years Level IV NICU experience
- Demonstrated competency with mechanical ventilation and tracheostomy care
- Pediatric care experience preferred
Schedule & Expectations
- Three 12-hour night shifts per week (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
- Patient ratio: 1–3 patients per nurse
- Float assignments may be assigned throughout the facility
- 36 hours of orientation provided
