Cardiovascular Operating Room Surgical Technologist

Position Overview

The facility seeks an experienced Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) Surgical Technologist to join the surgical services team. You will provide direct patient care and surgical support in accordance with established clinical protocols, working alongside surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nursing staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Shift & Schedule

• Days: 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM
• 4 x 10-hour shifts per week
• 13-week contract
• Guaranteed 40 hours per week

Clinical Scope

This role is centered on open-heart surgery support. You will:

• Prepare the surgical field and instruments for cardiac procedures
• Assist surgeons during complex open-heart cases
• Monitor and maintain sterile technique throughout procedures
• Coordinate with the multidisciplinary surgical team
• Implement and monitor patient care plans perioperatively
• Document patient conditions and communicate with team members

Required Qualifications

• Current NBSTSA (National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting) certification
• Valid surgical technologist license
• Proven experience in open-heart surgical procedures
• Critical thinking skills and ability to work with minimal supervision
• Ability to function effectively in a high-stress surgical environment
• Standard Precautions and PPE compliance

Onboarding Requirements

Standard health screenings and immunizations required, including MMR, Hepatitis B, Tdap, Varicella, TB screening, and fit testing.
