Medical-Surgical RN — Night Shift | Nashville, TN
13-Week Contract | Start Date: September 14, 2026
This Med-Surg unit manages a diverse, mixed-acuity patient population including post-operative cases, neurological patients, and those requiring complex wound and airway management. The unit operates with daily unit secretary support and PRN tech coverage.
Shift & Schedule
- Nights: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- 4 weekend shifts per 4-week scheduling block
- Guaranteed 36 hours per week
- Float requirement: may float over core staff
Clinical Scope
Candidates should be comfortable with:
- Wound care, tracheostomy, ostomy, drain, and chest tube management
- Stroke and seizure patient care
- Peritoneal dialysis and PCA pump management
- Heparin drip (only IV drip on unit)
- Post-op care: amputations, ostomy, drains, chest tubes, oral surgery, wound vacs
- Bedside shift report, q1–2h safety checks, and HAI/fall prevention protocols
- 100% medication scanning, including controlled substances
- CVC and Foley monitoring with standard precautions
Required Certifications
- BLS
- NIHSS
Dress Code
Navy, blue, white, black, gray, or ceil blue scrubs

Travel clinicians are treated as core staff and held to the same standards of accountability and recognition. Charge nurses and unit leadership are experienced and supportive, offering a smooth onboarding experience.
This is a strong placement for a Med-Surg RN who is comfortable with high-acuity post-operative patients and neurological care in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
