Medical-Surgical Travel Nurse | Night Shift | Nashville, TN
This is a 13-week contract on a busy Medical-Surgical unit offering night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM). The unit is supported by a unit secretary daily and PRN technician coverage.
Contract Details
- Start Date: September 14, 2026
- Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (12-hour nights)
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week
- Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts per 4-week block
- Float Policy: May float over core staff
Clinical Scope
The unit manages a diverse patient population including post-operative, neurological, and medically complex cases. Clinical responsibilities include:
- Wound care, tracheostomy, ostomy, drain, and chest tube management
- Care of stroke and seizure patients
- Management of patients requiring peritoneal dialysis or PCA pumps
- Heparin drip administration (only continuous drip on unit)
- Post-op patients following amputations, ostomy surgeries, oral surgeries, and wound vac placement
Patient care expectations include bedside shift report, safety checks every 1–2 hours, and a strong emphasis on communication and responsiveness.

Dress Code
Navy, blue, white, black, gray, or ceil blue scrubs
Unit Culture
Staff describe a collaborative, motivated team with supportive charge nurses and experienced leadership. Travel clinicians are held to the same standards and recognition as permanent staff.
