Med/Surg Telemetry RN — Night Shift | Burlington, NC

13-Week Contract | Nights 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM | Every Other Weekend/Every Other Holiday

This unit primarily serves a Med/Surg patient population on a tele-capable floor, managing medical overflow cases including patients on BiPAP and drips (excluding true cardiac patients). The unit also supports general surgical patients with pre-op and post-op care needs. Remote telemetry monitoring is in use, and CNA and Unit Secretary support is available. Beds are capped to ensure RNs do not exceed six patients.

Key Clinical Skills Required:

  • Telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation (remote monitoring experience required)
  • IV insulin protocols, heparin management, PCA
  • BiPAP/CPAP management, high-flow nasal cannula
  • Central line and PICC line management
  • Chest tubes, wound care/wound vac, surgical drains
  • Pre/post hemodialysis management, renal failure care
  • Tracheostomy care, colostomy/ileostomy management
  • Rapid Response and Code team participation

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience
  • BLS required; ACLS preferred
  • Remote telemetry monitoring experience required
  • Charge RN experience preferred
  • All RNs must pass a compliance EKG exam (2 attempts allowed)
  • Active RN license must be in hand at time of submission
  • First-time travelers welcome

Scheduling & Floating:

  • Every other weekend and every other holiday coverage required
  • Travelers may be floated to other campus locations as needed

Additional Notes:

  • No local candidates within 50-mile radius
  • Requested time off must be submitted with application; no post-submission RTO accepted
  • Non-billable orientation modules average 2–4 hours
