ICU/Trauma RN — 13-Week Travel Contract | Nights | Redding, CA

This fast-paced ICU/Trauma unit manages high-acuity patients including trauma, neuro-strokes, head injuries, ventriculostomies, and ICP monitoring cases. A robust interventional radiology program supports the unit, and respiratory therapy is present in the ICU around the clock.

Shift & Schedule

  • 12-hour nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
  • Every other weekend required
  • First to float (to PCU, CICU, tele, or med-surg; CICU floats involve ICU-level patients, not open-heart)
  • Start date: September 15, 2026

Clinical Requirements

  • Minimum 2–3 years of ICU specialty experience required
  • Experience with ICP monitoring and ventriculostomies is mandatory; candidates without this must have post-TPA patient experience
  • Must be comfortable titrating vasopressors and sedation drips
  • Must pass a proctored Dysrhythmia Test on Day 1 (pass/fail)
  • RNs are responsible for interpreting their own telemetry strips

Certifications

  • BLS and ACLS required
  • NIHSS required
  • PALS preferred; required if assignment extends beyond 6 months
  • COVID vaccine required

Unit Support

  • Intensivist and charge nurse on-site 24/7 (charge does not carry a patient assignment)
  • House supervisor available 24/7
  • Respiratory therapy in-unit 24/7
  • Unit tech on the floor (primarily secretarial support)

Additional Details

  • Scrubs: Navy
  • Schedule posted approximately 6 weeks in advance
  • Guaranteed 36 hours per week
  • Orientation: 1 day on unit, with additional support available
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills are essential on this high-volume, high-acuity unit
