ICU/Trauma RN — 13-Week Travel Contract | Nights | Redding, CA
This fast-paced ICU/Trauma unit manages high-acuity patients including trauma, neuro-strokes, head injuries, ventriculostomies, and ICP monitoring cases. A robust interventional radiology program supports the unit, and respiratory therapy is present in the ICU around the clock.
Shift & Schedule
- 12-hour nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Every other weekend required
- First to float (to PCU, CICU, tele, or med-surg; CICU floats involve ICU-level patients, not open-heart)
- Start date: September 15, 2026
Clinical Requirements
- Minimum 2–3 years of ICU specialty experience required
- Experience with ICP monitoring and ventriculostomies is mandatory; candidates without this must have post-TPA patient experience
- Must be comfortable titrating vasopressors and sedation drips
- Must pass a proctored Dysrhythmia Test on Day 1 (pass/fail)
- RNs are responsible for interpreting their own telemetry strips
Certifications
- BLS and ACLS required
- NIHSS required
- PALS preferred; required if assignment extends beyond 6 months
- COVID vaccine required
Unit Support
- Intensivist and charge nurse on-site 24/7 (charge does not carry a patient assignment)
- House supervisor available 24/7
- Respiratory therapy in-unit 24/7
- Unit tech on the floor (primarily secretarial support)
Additional Details
- Scrubs: Navy
- Schedule posted approximately 6 weeks in advance
- Guaranteed 36 hours per week
- Orientation: 1 day on unit, with additional support available
- Strong teamwork and communication skills are essential on this high-volume, high-acuity unit
