Cardiac Medical/Surgical RN — Chattanooga, TN
Days | 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM | 13-Week Contract
This cardiac unit manages medical/surgical patients requiring telemetry monitoring and vasoactive drip management. Nurses care for patients with complex cardiac needs in a structured environment supported by unit clerks, patient care technicians, a nursing supervisor, and hospitalists.
Clinical Scope
- Continuous telemetry monitoring with required rhythm strip documentation and charting each shift
- Vasoactive and cardiac drip management: Heparin, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, and Amiodarone
- Chest tube management, wound VAC management, and ad hoc EKGs
- Strong emphasis on bedside and hourly rounding with structured patient communication protocols
Schedule & Float
- Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- Every-other-weekend commitment (4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule)
- Float to general medical/surgical, orthopedics, progressive care, and surgical oncology units as skill mix allows
Requirements
- Active RN license
- ACLS and BLS required
- Cardiac knowledge strongly preferred
- Proficiency with vasoactive drip management
Additional Details
- Dress code: Navy scrubs for RNs; solid undershirt in white, blue, grey, or black (no graphics); no artificial, gel nails, or gel nail polish
- Guaranteed hours: 36 per week
- Contract length: 13 weeks
- Start date: September 7, 2026
