Registered Nurse
Neuro Stepdown / Intermediate Care — Night Shift | Charlotte, NC
This 20-week travel contract places you in a neuro-specialized intermediate care unit managing a mixed population of neurological and medical intermediate patients. Shifts run nights, 3×12 hours (18:45–07:15), with 36- and 48-hour weeks available.
Unit & Patient Population
The unit cares for adults and geriatric patients with diagnoses including CVA, traumatic brain injury, intracranial bleeds, aneurysm repair, post-craniotomy, post-TPA, seizure disorders, spinal cord injury, and substance withdrawal, alongside general medical intermediate patients.
Required Skills & Certifications
- Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience; prior travel experience required
- Neuro stepdown or PCU/IMC/stepdown background strongly preferred — neuro experience must be noted if limited
- Titration of vasoactive drips (including levophed), cardiac and insulin drips
- Telemetry interpretation and dysrhythmia management
- Central/PICC line care, blood product administration, IV insulin protocols, heparin protocols, PCA, thrombolytics
- Respiratory: BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, tracheostomy care, ventilated patient management, chest tube management, ABG interpretation
- Continuous bladder irrigation, pre/post hemodialysis management, feeding tube care, surgical drains, wound vac
- Must pass EKG competency testing prior to start
- Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
- Preferred: CCRN, TNCC, CPI
Schedule & Requirements
- Minimum 3 weekend shifts per six-week period
- Float requirement: other intermediate areas and ICU/stepdown patients
- No call requirement
- Orientation: 32 hours (8-hour didactic + 2 unit shifts)
- Scrubs: Navy blue and white (not provided)
Attendance Policy
Call-off policy is strictly enforced. No RTO may be requested after contract signing. Pre-approved RTO only; no RTO during the first week of contract.
