Labor & Delivery / Postpartum — Travel RN

San Luis Obispo, CA | 13-Week Contract | Nights

This L&D/Postpartum unit cares for high-risk obstetric patients at 34 weeks and above, with a strong culture of individualized birth planning. The team averages approximately 55 deliveries per month, managing complex, high-acuity cases with a commitment to evidence-based care.

Shift & Schedule

• 12-hour nights, 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirement
• Holidays rotated with permanent staff

Clinical Responsibilities

• Float between Labor & Delivery and Postpartum (experience in both is required)
• Circulate for cesarean sections (required)
• Fetal monitoring per AWHONN guidelines
• OB tech support available on all shifts
• Respiratory therapy available around the clock

Orientation

• 3 shifts of unit-specific orientation

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of L&D/Postpartum experience
• Prior travel nursing experience preferred; no first-time travelers
• Active RN license (California or multistate)
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, Advanced Fetal Monitoring
• COVID vaccination required
• Ability to circulate for C-sections
• Experience with both L&D and Postpartum settings

Additional Details

• Scrubs provided by the facility
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week
• Cancellation policy: up to 4 shifts may be canceled over a 13-week contract
