Progressive Care Unit (PCU) — Travel RN
Greensboro, NC | Days | 16-Week Contract
This high-acuity PCU manages a complex adult patient population, including stroke, renal disorders, sepsis, endocrine, gastrointestinal, and hematological diagnoses. The unit operates as a fully telemetry-monitored floor with centralized cardiac monitoring support, and regularly cares for longer-term, medically complex patients — including those who remain on the unit after downgrading from PCU to med-surg status.
Schedule
- 3x12-hour shifts, Days (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
- Weekend and holiday rotation required
- No on-call required
Clinical Skills Required
- Cardiac telemetry interpretation and dysrhythmia management
- Titration of cardiac, vasoactive, and insulin drips
- Peripheral line and PICC line care and management
- BiPAP/CPAP and high-flow nasal cannula management
- Blood product administration, heparin protocols, IV insulin protocols
- Tracheostomy care, chest tube management, wound care/wound vac
- Central line care, PCA management
Certifications Required
- BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of PCU experience required
- First-time travelers welcome
- Active RN license required at time of submission
- Must pass a compliance EKG exam (2 attempts allowed)
- No local candidates within 50 miles
Additional Details
- Floating to other system campuses required as needed
- COVID-19 and flu vaccines required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
- Non-billable orientation modules average 2–4 hours
