Progressive Care Unit (PCU) — Travel RN
Greensboro, NC | Days | 16-Week Contract
This high-acuity PCU manages a complex adult patient population, including stroke, renal disorders, sepsis, endocrine, gastrointestinal, and hematological conditions. The unit maintains all telemetry-monitored beds with centralized cardiac monitoring support. Expect a mix of step-down patients, long-term complex cases, and total-care patients who remain on the unit rather than transferring when downgraded from PCU to med-surg status.
Schedule
- 3x12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
- Weekend and holiday rotation required
- No on-call required
Clinical Skills Required
- Cardiac telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
- Titration of cardiac, vasoactive, and insulin drips
- Peripheral and PICC line care and management
- BiPAP/CPAP and high-flow nasal cannula management
- Blood product administration
- Central line care, chest tube management, tracheostomy care
- Heparin and IV insulin protocols
- Wound care/wound vac
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of PCU/step-down experience required
- ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Active RN license in hand at time of submission
- Must pass a compliance EKG exam (2 attempts allowed)
- Floating to other system campuses required as needed
- No local candidates within 50-mile radius
- COVID-19 and flu vaccines required (medical/religious exemptions considered)

Orientation: Approximately 36 hours; non-billable modules average 2–4 hours and are completed during orientation.
