Respiratory Therapist — Night Shift

Position Overview

The facility's Respiratory Services department seeks an RRT for a night shift (18:30–07:00) position on a 13-week contract. You'll provide critical respiratory care across adult ICUs, progressive care units, and specialty services including neonatal and pediatric critical care.

Unit Details

You'll work within a large, busy respiratory department supporting multiple patient populations ranging from routine post-operative cases to high-acuity critical illness. The night shift typically includes 12–16 RRTs managing adult service lines and 3–4 RRTs supporting neonatal and pediatric care, with patient ratios of 10–25 depending on acuity and unit assignment.

Clinical Scope

Responsibilities include mechanical ventilation management, non-invasive ventilation, high-flow oxygen therapy, and transport support. You'll care for post-surgical patients, those with respiratory compromise, sepsis cases, and specialized populations in the NICU and pediatric ICU.

Requirements

  • Active North Carolina Respiratory License
  • RRT certification (CRTs will not be considered)
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
  • Willingness to float across all critical care units and floors
  • Ability to work varying weekend schedules (minimum 4 weekend shifts per 6-week cycle)

Preferred

NRP certification and prior critical care experience.

Logistics

Guaranteed 36 hours per week. Medium gray/pewter scrubs required.
