Operating Room – Surgical Services

Position Overview

The facility seeks an experienced Operating Room Nurse for a 14-week contract in a busy surgical services department. You'll work day shift, 4x10 hours (6:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.), circulating and scrubbing across multiple surgical specialties in a 16-room main OR environment.

Clinical Scope

This role encompasses general, neurosurgical, spine, orthopedic, robotic-assisted, urologic, vascular, and colorectal procedures. You'll support an average daily census of 35 patients and work with a diverse patient population ranging from adults to geriatrics. Typical cases include craniotomies, lumbar and cervical fusions, joint replacements, AAA repairs, carotid procedures, prostatectomies, colorectal resections, and robotic-assisted cases across multiple specialties.

Requirements

  • License: RN licensure (GA or Compact state required at submission)
  • Certification: BLS
  • Experience: Minimum 1 year; first-time travelers welcome
  • Skills: Circulating and scrubbing experience is mandatory; experience with the procedures listed above preferred

Schedule & Call

  • 2–3 weekends per 8-week period (in-house or on-call)
  • 7–8 call shifts per 8-week schedule, including 1 weekend call and 1–2 weekday night shifts
  • Call shifts: 7 p.m. – 7 a.m. or 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.
  • Float: rare, within scope of practice as needed
  • Maximum 7 days RTO; blackout dates include Spring Break (April 4–12)
  • Holiday coverage required based on assignment overlap
