Night Shift RN — Progressive Care Unit
Position Overview
The facility is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift position on a progressive care unit (PCU) serving neuro/stroke, cardiac, respiratory, and mixed medical patients. This is a 16-week contract, nights only, 3 shifts per week at 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM).
Requirements
- Current RN license (GA or compact state)
- Minimum 1 year of nursing experience (first-time travelers considered)
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Experience with cardiac telemetry, titration of cardiac drips, and hemodynamic monitoring
- Ability to manage central lines, chest tubes, and tracheostomies
- Competency with non-invasive respiratory support (BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula)
- Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
Clinical Scope
You will care for PCU-level patients (1:4 ratio) with post-stroke, post-cardiac-surgery, and acute neurological conditions. Daily responsibilities include continuous telemetry monitoring, titration of vasoactive and cardiac drips, blood product administration, and coordination with interdisciplinary teams including respiratory therapy, physical therapy, and rapid response.
Schedule & Logistics
- Every other weekend (no block scheduling)
- Maximum 7 days RTO per contract; blackout dates apply during Spring Break
- Floating within facility and scope of practice as needed
- Navy blue scrubs
- No call requirements
Compliance
Full onboarding compliance required before start date. Orientation modules are non-billable and scheduled bi-weekly.
