Labor & Delivery RN — High-Volume, High-Acuity Unit | Charlotte, NC
Shift: Nights | 3x12-Hour (18:45–07:15)
Contract Duration: 13+ weeks, with contracts available through February 27, 2027
Specialty: Labor & Delivery / High-Risk Obstetrics
This is a fast-paced, high-volume Labor & Delivery unit caring for obstetrical patients at 16 weeks gestation and beyond, including high-risk antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum populations. The unit also manages patients under 16 weeks on the adjoining high-risk maternity service. Double labor assignments are a daily expectation.
Clinical Scope:
- Intrapartum and high-risk antepartum/postpartum care
- Scheduled and unscheduled Cesarean births; rescue cervical cerclage
- Obstetrical : antenatal fetal surveillance, IV hydration, medication administration
- Oxytocin Challenge Tests (OCT) and infant/neonatal arrest response
Required Certifications:
- BLS, NRP
- AWHONN Intermediate (Advanced preferred; C-EFM accepted in lieu of AWHONN)
Required Skills:
- Circulate for C-section (strongly preferred)
- Sterile vaginal exam
- Immediate newborn care
- of obstetrical patients, fetal monitoring interpretation
Experience: Minimum 2 years L&D; 3 years preferred. Must have experience in a setting delivering 300+ births per month. First-time travelers accepted with comparable high-volume background.
Scheduling Details:
- Every other weekend required; minimum 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
- Float within the high-risk women's unit as needed
- No call required
- Up to 7 days RTO (no holidays; no RTO first week; no additional RTO after signing)
- Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
Orientation: 24 hours
Scrubs: Provided (blue)
Flu vaccine: Required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
