Cardiac Stepdown Nurse – Night Shift

Position Details

• Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Schedule: Every other weekend; 36 guaranteed hours per week
• Location: Asheville, NC

About the Unit

You'll work in a cardiac stepdown unit caring for patients with acute and post-procedural cardiac conditions. The patient population includes those with CHF, MI, arrhythmias, pulmonary hypertension, valvular disease, endocarditis, and DKA. Many patients are post-cardiac catheterization/stent placement or post-device insertion (pacemaker, ICD, ablation). You'll perform bedside cardioversion and manage complex, titratable cardiac medications including nitroglycerine, Cardizem, amiodarone, dopamine, insulin drips, and diuretics.

What We're Looking For

• Required: Stepdown or progressive care experience, telemetry experience, and solid knowledge of titratable cardiac IV medications
• Preferred: Experience with prostacyclins (Flolan, Veletri, Remodulin) and relief charge experience
• Certifications: BLS and ACLS (current)
• Personality: Flexible, positive, compassionate team player

Float Expectations

You may be called to float to other med-surg units, stepdown units, COVID units, or ER holding as needed.

Dress Code

All white, all navy blue, or white top with navy blue pants.
