Location: Birmingham, AL
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Schedule: 36 hours/week, 3x12-hour shifts, every other weekend and select holidays
Contract Duration: 14 weeks

About the Role
The facility's stepdown unit provides nursing care for patients requiring closer monitoring than a general medical-surgical unit but not ICU-level care. You'll manage moderate-acuity patients, many transitioning from the ICU or at risk of clinical deterioration.
Key Responsibilities
- Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms and vital signs; identify and respond to changes in condition
- Administer medications, including select IV drips, per physician orders
- Assess and manage patients at risk of clinical decline; collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary team on plans of care
- Respond to rapid response and code interventions as needed
- Educate patients and families on condition, treatment plan, and recovery
- Maintain accurate documentation in the EMR
- Manage a moderate patient load (typically 3–4 patients) per unit guidelines
- Ensure infection control and fall prevention protocols are followed
Requirements
- Active RN license (state or compact)
- BLS and ACLS certification required
- Minimum 1+ years of stepdown/telemetry experience
- Minimum 2 years' experience in specialty and prior travel experience required
- BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
- PCCN (Progressive Care Certified Nurse) preferred
- Demonstrated experience with telemetry monitoring and moderate-acuity patient management
