Medical ICU – RN

Location: Birmingham, AL

Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

Schedule: 36 hours/week, three 12-hour shifts

Contract: 14 weeks

Start Date: September 21, 2026

About the Role

Join the facility's Medical ICU as a registered nurse providing direct care to critically ill patients. You'll manage high-acuity patients requiring intensive monitoring, advanced life support, and rapid clinical decision-making in a collaborative, physician-led environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care including continuous assessment and hemodynamic monitoring
• Manage advanced equipment: ventilators, arterial lines, central lines, and hemodynamic monitors
• Administer vasoactive and sedation drips; titrate medications per physician orders
• Respond to rapid changes in patient condition; perform code interventions as needed
• Collaborate with intensivists and interdisciplinary teams on plan of care
• Educate patients and families; document thoroughly in the EMR
• Maintain infection control and safety protocols

Requirements

• Active RN license (state or compact)
• Minimum 2 years' critical care/ICU experience (travel experience required)
• BLS and ACLS certification (required); CCRN preferred
• BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
• Proficiency with ventilators, hemodynamic monitoring, and titratable drips

Schedule Notes

Every other weekend and select holidays included.
