NICU Nurse – Night Shift

Start Date: November 11, 2026

Contract Length: 13 or 18 weeks

Shift: Night 3x12-hour (19:00–07:00), variable or straight nights

Location: San Diego, CA

About the Role

The facility's NICU provides high-acuity surgical care for neonates from 22 weeks gestation through infancy. You'll manage complex post-operative patients and those with conditions including HIE/cooling, congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH), necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC), and respiratory distress/failure. Common surgeries include gastroschisis, omphaloceles, abdominal repairs, myelomeningoceles, and tracheostomy/G-tube placements.

Clinical Scope:

You'll care for 1–2 patients per shift and work with oscillators, conventional ventilators, CPAP, specialty gases, central lines (PICC, Broviac, UAC/UVC), tracheostomies, ostomies, and feeding tubes. Strong experience managing post-operative care, line changes with multiple drips, and pre- and post-op management is essential.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years NICU Level 4 experience (or strong Level 3 surgical experience—note in submission)
• California license (pending acceptable with ETA)
• Certifications: BLS, Advanced NRP; PALS preferred
• Own transportation (mileage reimbursed to satellite locations)
• Weekend flexibility—must be available when scheduled
• Float capability within scope to PICU, CVICU, and NICU satellite campuses

Important Details

• Holiday commitment: Must work 2 of 3 (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's—including eves)
• Maximum 6 days RTO
• Orientation: 36 hours
• No on-call required
• Any color scrubs
